Committee Boat Commissioning Day (2 May 2026)

With racing season right around the corner, it's time to get our Committee boat shipshape — and we'd love your help doing it!

We're organizing a working meetup now on Saturday, May 2nd starting at 10:00 AM to commission the Committee boat ahead of the season. Three of your fellow members have already signed on, and we're looking for a few more willing hands to make light work of what promises to be a rewarding couple hours of work with knowledgeable people and a learning opportunity.

What we'll be tackling:

Clean the boat and remove any accumulated water
Install the prop and touch up bottom paint
Polish and compound the hull (time permitting)
Test race marks
Check and test cockpit equipment — sensors, radio, start box, and more
Transfer cuddy equipment from stores to the boat
Launch and place in slip

This is a fantastic opportunity to build sweat equity in your club, get to know your fellow members in a relaxed setting, and give back through a little hands-on philanthropy. Many hands make short work — and there's something genuinely satisfying about knowing you helped put the race committee platform in the water for the season ahead.

Space is limited to 10 participants, so please RSVP to secure your spot and help us plan accordingly. If you've already RSVPed, please follow up to confirm your attendance as the date approaches.

Brush off the cobwebs, dust off the foulies, and get back on the water — the Frostbite Race is here to kick off the season with a bang!

This pursuit-style race is your first chance to find your sea legs (and your competition legs) before the season gets serious. More importantly, it's where handicaps are set — so showing up early and racing well here pays dividends all season long. Don't let your competitors get a head start on you.

Please RSVP early. There will be plenty of spots, but it will help us plan for the event. Connect with John Lares to share your boat information so we can document your PHRF and inform your exact start time. We will do everything we can to accommodate late-arrivals, but early registration is appreciated!

Entry Fees:

Yachtmaster members: Included in your fee — no excuses!
LCYC members: $20
Everyone else: $30

Whether you're a seasoned sailor or just shaking off the winter rust, the Frostbite is a great time on the water with great people. See you out there.

Racing 101 — Learn to Race with LCYC

There's nothing quite like the thrill of a close start — and this is your chance to experience it! Racing 101 is a complete two-session program designed to demystify racing, connect you with our fantastic racing community, and get you on the water with confidence. Both sessions are included and attendance at Session 1 is required to participate in Session 2. No prior racing experience required — all skill levels and ages welcome.

Spring Cleanup — Same Day! Saturday, April 18 · 10:30 AM · LCYC Clubhouse

Come early and help get the club shipshape for the season! Lunch will be served and members who attend both the Spring Cleanup and Session 1 will receive priority boat placement for the June on-the-water session. A great way to meet fellow members and make a day of it.

Session 2: On the Water — TerBeest Pursuit Club Race Saturday, June 6 · Lake City Marina

Time to put it all together! Having completed Session 1, you'll join us aboard LCYC keelboats for the TerBeest Pursuit, our second club race of the year. You'll get dockside coaching, real race experience alongside seasoned club sailors, and a debrief to close out the day. This is racing — and it is a blast. See the full racing calendar for details.

UPDATE THIS

WHOA, summer has moved fast. However, a few more acts of fun are still planned.

Rib-Fest is set for Saturday, September 5th from 5:00 to 10:00.

5:00 Social Hour inside the club will be BBQ nachos, veggies and dip, beer, wine and root beer.

6:00 Dinner The Rebel food truck will be out front to serve up the ribs. Dinner will include ribs (4 bones), coleslaw, and beans.

Grab your ticket out front, you will need a ticket to eat!

Dessert will be a build your own ‘LCYC blizzards’, cookie crumbles, fruit, chocolate syrup and more. Available inside the club.
