2021 PEPIN OPEN REGATTA
July 3 and 4, 2021

NOTICE OF RACE

The Lake City Yacht Club proudly announces the Notice of Race for the 2021 Pepin Open Regatta. The Pepin Open is scheduled for July 3 and 4, 2021

The LCYC is excited to welcome all LCYC / PYC/ St Croix Sailing Club Member Boats as well as other racing sailors from the region to the 2021 Pepin Open.

The race format will accommodate family/ household boating requirements implemented by MN for COVID containment.

The regatta will be four races total, two longer distance races each over Saturday and Sunday.  This informal format will allow all member boats to join in the weekend’s fun. What a way to enjoy the windblown waters of Lake Pepin and the scenic Hiawatha Valley with its majestic Mississippi River bluffs! A weekend of racing and camaraderie in this beautiful setting is a great way to celebrate the July 4th holiday!

The regatta cost shall be $125.

Racing shall be governed by US Sailing’s Racing Rules of Sailing 2017-2020, except where altered by the 2020 LCYC Sailing instructions.  Additional information, including the Pepin Open Registration Form and the LCYC Sailing Instructions can be found at www.lakecityyachtclub.com under the Racing tab.

The racing will be managed by the Lake City Yacht Club’s Principal Race Officer.  A skipper’s meeting will be held at the Lake City Yacht Club at 9:00 am on Saturday and Sunday, July 3th and 4th.  The race start will be at approximately 11:00am each day.  The races shall be longer distance using a best fit windward leeward course layouts. As always actual courses will be based on prevailing and predicted conditions.

After racing concludes on Saturday, there will be a food truck dinner service available, socially distant raffle, socially distance outdoor seating, music provided by Joel Forthun and his band.   Cost will be your choice for dinner plus a $10 recommended donation for the music.  The live music will follow dinner and raffle.

These are really different times, but this is a terrific way to unwind after an informal afternoon race, have a great meal, participate in the raffle supporting local business, listen to some fine music and to enjoy the (socially distance) camaraderie of your fellow sailors / boaters!
